I’m excited as the first Bland2Brand workshop is complete! As we’re gearing up for the next one in October, I wanted to share some key moments and give you a peek into the Workshop. If you’re anxious to see the juicy stuff, click here. Interested in the fine details? Then, read on!
Day 1 was our “Creative” day. We began with head shots for our attendees (I call them the “Triple Threat”) from our photographer, Alexa. Our makeup artist, Simone, was on the spot to provide beautiful makeup looks for each of our ladies. Professional high quality photos are such an important piece of your brand that they are a must-have! They are useful on your website, media kit, social media, business cards and anywhere else you need professional imagery.
Creative consultations were under way as we helped the Triple Threat refine their visual brand through their Pinterest mood boards and graphic design training. The creative session allowed us to work with each attendee individually to guide their thought and design process with how best to brand for their business. Along with their completed branding and creative exercises, we helped them see how each branding exercise related to a section within their visual brand. For example, the Offerings exercise contained information to help them form their bankable services and products.
By the end of the first day, everyone was ready to integrate their graphics, content and brand new head shots into their website. On Day 2, the attendees got their hands a little dirty and played around with some basic HTML and CSS coding!
WordPress is the leader in content management systems for web development. Instead of using a drop-and-drag system like Wix or Squarespace, which are also good to use, I wanted the Triple Threat to receive the best in managing their website and brand. WordPress is amazing because it grows with your business and you can expand your brand by adding various tools such as a calendar, forum, online store, etc., to your website.
At the top of the second day, the attendees were ready to burst with excitement as they saw their self-created/us-guided brand coming together! One attendee did burst with pure joy. Check it out her explosion below!
The first Bland2Brand was a success! We had 3 great women firmly establish their brands over the course of 2 days who are already expanding their brands through our private Facebook group (which all attendees receive access to). We learned a valuable lesson at this first workshop: Quality Over Quantity. This is a powerful lesson you will learn in your business. You may have an awesome service, product or social media posting but may receive a few sales, likes, hearts, etc., and you may be upset about how much hard work you put into your brand with little return. Have you ever felt that way?
If so, I encourage you to count your blessings and remember how being your own boss has its challenges but is one of the most rewarding endeavors. No one has 100% returns on everything they put out so be realistic and positive about your business and focus more on the quality of what you put out or the quality of the feedback you receive and focus less on the quantity of that thing. You’ll maintain your joy if you look at what you’ve accomplished.
